Are you heading out for a short trip and aren’t sure what to pack?
It makes sense to pack everything under the roof when you are going on a long trip (another country), but when you are just going on a short weekend trip to another state or city, it’s better to travel light. Here are some specific guidelines for what to pack for a short trip, so you don’t miss anything important.
Take minimum amount of clothes, since you don’t want to spend much space on clothes because if you are only going for a 2-day trip you only need a few clothes unless you are doing something specific that requires extra. Take a two set of clothes. You can also reduce your load by saving the clothes you wear on your trip and wearing them again when you come back.
- dress jacket
- 2-4 shirts/blouses/tops
- 2 pairs trousers/skirts/shorts
- 3+ pairs of socks
- 3+ pairs of undergarments
Take a smaller version of everything, you shouldn’t have to buy these extra for 2 days use only. Toothpaste, Toothbrush, comb, deodorant etc. are little things that take low space, pack them up in a small plastic bag and you’ll have everything in place for when you need to use either during your trip or when you reach your destination. Don’t forget to pack these as these most forgotten items on anyone’s list.
Important List of Toiletries:
- Toothpaste & Toothbrush
- Hand Sanitizer
- Sunscreen + lip balm +moisturizer
- Essential makeup
You don’t want to take 4 pairs of shoes for a short trip. Depending on what type of terrain you’ll be traversing, just take just 1 pair of shoes which you will be wearing along with a light comfortable pair (read: flip-flops) to wear during the rest of the trip. These two pairs you are wearing will suffice you through your trip
Select one or two pairs of shoes that fulfill your purpose and only pack those, it’ll save you a lot of space.
Your phone is an important commodity; an essential for communicating and staying in-touch with your family and friends. Even though you don’t need to take much, you still need few things. Few of the gadgets and tools you must take with you include:
- Portable battery
- Phone charger
- USB Storage
Tip: If you’d also like to read books during travel then you can consider taking a tablet or Kindle instead of physical books since the book would take up more space than a Kindle. Tablets do take a lot of space but still, has considerable utility.
Whether you want to take your camera along or not depends entirely on what kind of trip you are taking. If you are going out to wild lands or in some nature driven areas, you may want to take your camera to take amazing pictures of your trip. But if it is a business trip and you are just going to stay at a place, where there’s not much to capture then your phone camera would suffice and you should consider leaving that bulky camera behind.
Other than the above-mentioned basics, you should take these along with you depending on how readily available these things would be in the place you are going to travel.
- Tissue roll/wet wipes
- Essential medicines; pain killers, band aids etc.
- Contact solution (if you wear contacts)
- A small light blanket
- Travel pillow
- Menstrual/ sanitary pads
